While I was training the T-shirt/sign shop crew, my buddy Dave was installing electricity from the church into the pastors house. A local man dug the trench and Dave, our driver Frank and Dr. Charles's son Fred laid the pvc pipe and cable. We bought all the cable and parts and only the last bit of hook up and to be handled by a local electrician. Judith,

pastor moses's wife was very grateful.

Thought I would post some photos that the crew took at the game reserve....than you can say you saw them on the internet. That is my reasoning for not going...."I can see them on the internet!" :)

Kim my former student wanted the recipe for flour tortillas as he really liked them in 2013 when I was in Kitui. I tried to get the people at the Matete hotel to make them to no avail. But I carried "survival grub :)
We traveled all day Monday (Feb. 16th) and arrived in Kilgoris late. We passed by Lake Victoria at a distance. Most photos were taken out of the windows as we drove by. Very beautiful farm lands, very crowded towns and cities. Kilgoris is Masai land were the headers are very tall and will usually have a red blanket over their shoulder.
Tuesday we visited local pastors and churches than we headed for Narok which is still in masai territory.
Wednesday early (4:30 a.m.) the ones who wanted to go to the game park went and saw the animals and took photos. Frank the driver and I elected to sleep late and have a leisurely lunch with a cold Tuskers beer. We took the vehicle to the "car wash", I bought some curios and got a haircut and a nap!
I was sitting by the pool when the game park bunch came back,

wiped out.
Just before my nap it started raining with a lot of thunder, which lasted for an hour.
Thursday we headed back to Nairobi, with one vehicle repair in the mix. Narok is in the low lands and it is a steep climb to get back up to Nairobi.
In Naiobi we had lunch with the lady who owns the hotel we stayed at in Matete. She is the youngest member of parliment so she was staying in Nairobi. A former student of mine (Kim) from Kitui and his girlfriend also met with us at the lunch. We also met with a sign show contact who was very helpful with giving us contacts for machines and supplies.

Last Day in Matete

Sunday - We had a good time at Pastor moses's church today. Dave and I decided we would go there instead of traveling with Frank to Amagoro and going to church with Pastor Mike. That is at least a 45 min. trip each way and this was the last day we could spend with Pastor Moses  and his wife Judith, also the sign/tee shirt crew.

Leaving Matete monday morning, heading back south. We will go over the equator (9000) and drop down into the Rift valley and than climb back up the mountain on the other side and go to Kilgoris where the Masai Mara game park is.
The photo of Two bob and his family was taken with Dave and I after church. The baby was not real happy to be held by a muzungu, Dave said she would have nightmares that night.
The photo of the crew is from the left,"Two bob" Benson," Crazy mazungu", Dave johnson "Super fundy" and "Computer" Collins.
We had a meal Sunday evening and dedicated everyone with their Kenyan names. I can't imagine who started giving out "special names :)

Challenges

Today they found that the heat press had stopped working and a replacement will cost about five times what Stan paid for the one he brought. Without the press they will not be able to print t-shirts.
Dave took it apart and found the heat coil was cracked (baggage handlers?) Frank and Dave went to Eldoret, which is the nearby large city to find the part. The had a friend from the bible collage show them all the parts stores. They could not find it because it is "too new" for Kenya. The friend said they would not even find it in Nairobi. We can buy one in the states and ship it or have someone from the medical team bring it in April. We have one more possibility, which is I (stan) am in contact with my student Kim from 2013 in Kitui. He might be an assist.

Day One of Training

Ditch being dug to run electricity from the church to the home.

Special thanks to all that donated and helped make the electricity to the church and now to the home

Stan training with Pastor Moses, Benson and Collins.

So Dave tells Stan that since he's such an agitator, he should make a shirt that says
"Have Stick will Stir" so Stan takes his advice.

After several delays, Stan arrived safely in Nairobi on Thursday evening. He has been on the go ever since. I talked to him this morning, which was evening there. They are in Matete and will be headed to Pastor Moses' church in the morning. He's tired but glad to have reached his destination. He said he will send pictures soon so stand by.
